What Is CBD?

Cannabidiol or CBD is a naturally occurring cannabinoid compound that that does not make people feel “stoned” and actually counteract the psychoactivity of THC. Since CBD is non-psychoactive, is seen as an appealing option for patients looking for the benefits of cannabinoid without the psychoactive effects of THC.

Recently, the scientific and clinical research—much of it sponsored by the US government— highlights CBD’s potential as a treatment for a wide range of condition. Research into cannabinoids has been going on for several decades, but it wasn't until the early 90s that scientists uncovered the endocannabinoid system or ECS. The ECS is how the body actually reacts to cannabinoids and also produces its own similar chemicals, called endocannabinoids.
